Alexander Ratter is a film and theatre director and producer, born in Germany 1985. He made his first experiences as assistant director at Burgtheater Vienna (assisting Christoph Schlingensief, David Bösch, Stefan Pucher, Claus Peymann, Jan Bosse, Stefan Bachmann, Alvis Hermanis, René Pollesch, Matthias Hartmann and Niklaus Helbling) and worked as freelance director in Austria and Germany (directing pieces by Laura Naumann, David Carnevali and himself at Burgtheater Vienna, Schauspielhaus Graz and Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern). „Demut vor deinen taten baby" e.g. was invited to the autorentheatertage at Deutsches Theater Berlin.
He edited the DVD of Christoph Schlingensiefs „Mea Culpa" for the edition Burgtheater and produced and directed „Flight into darkness" by Arthur Schnitzler in Buenos Aires and Vienna. He worked as second assistant director for essence film in Sweden.
Alexander studied theatre and film in Vienna/Austria (bachelor) and film science in Berlin/Germany. He taught theatre and film at university in Germany. He studied filmmaking/directing in New York/United States. With Picco-Studio.com (former Picco-Film) on his side he has the platform to achieve his goals. His films were shown and awarded at over 40 international film festivals.
He is currently working with Picco-Studio on the feature films „Caligula" and „The heart of darkness" as director and author, and the fictional series „Limassol - day and night" (8x45 min) and „Frankfurt - three lives" (6x45min) as author, creator, director and producer.
